japenese saw bread knife

Ah, the corporate holiday party. Daytime drinking, inappropriate comments to coworkers, and all the spice cake you could eat. Because company policy doesn't technically allow such parties, the staff of This Old House threw a potluck office mixer, at which we were quite literally left to our own devices.

This is a Japanese folding saw we were testing for an article on pruning tools, but as you can see, today it's been used to deadhead our desserts. The tool's great for making clean cuts in green wood, but it did get hung up a bit on chocolate icing. "Still, it works pretty well," said TOH copy chief Leslie Monthan, "Even if it only cuts on the pull stroke."
