What is it, garage sale edition: pliers, pincers, or pants-pleaters?
August 28, 2007
This unidentified plying object came in from reader Ken in California. He writes,
It's marked with a number "two" and the word "warranted" sort of implying it comes in different sizes. The working surface is two steel hemispheres with a flat surface between them.
Guesses so far at the office have included:
- A penny-pincher
- A bacon-flipper
- A molar-extractor
Dear readers: what y'all think?

When I was in the Coast Guard we used a tool to install a lead seal on the CO2 fire extinguishers, and this looks liked the tool used to crimp the seal. Not sure what the name of the tool is.

blacksmithing tongs for smaller pieces of work?
Gross but I'm thinking something to do with caponizing?
Looks like an old carbuncle tool. Just heat 'er up a little grab aholt of the durn thing and then stab the carbuncle with the scapel. Problem solved!
