Brick tongs haul earth biscuits the easy way
November 16, 2007
So this may come as no surprise to the master masons in the audience.
But virgin bricklayers, behold a device that will save you time, spare your fingertips, and have you pondering the physical phenomenon known as the fulcrum:
The brick tong.
Here's how they work: clamp the tong jaws at each end of a row of 8, 10, or 12 bricks (they're adjustable). As you lift the handle, the tongs pivot and the jaws pinch the bricks together. The bricks' weight holds them in place as you transfer them from the stone yard to your job site.
Break them out, as I did recently, when laying a brick path.
