New ways to hit nails, volume 4
This shapely striker comes all the way from Australia, but its sinuous curve has international appeal--the Maxistrike recently hit the number one spot on Amazon's hand tools page.
The goose-neck shape is designed to reach around obstructions--pipes, joists, and other obstacles that would normally require a nail set for some close-quarters pounding.
I turned a 2x4 on its side and attempted to hammer a 3-inch nail "behind" it, and was able to get the nail well on its way before the concave neck began hitting the obstructing board. Despite its asymmetry, the hammer is perfectly balanced (unlike this one).
So it works as advertised.
But I'm wondering, readers: how often does such a situation come up? Gimmick? Genius?

I brought 2 of these from Amazon.com. Great value and does everything it says it can do. I wont go back to my old hammer now. Highly recommend!
