Special edition blade case looks sharp, gets jiggy

This great statistic accompanied Bosch's news of their special 60th-anniversary jigsaw blade case: since 1947, they've sold 4 billion blades, enough to circle the earth 10 times.

Does this not conjure an image of our planet, seen from space, as a kind of serrated stegosaurus?

The T101Bs, far left, are for straight, fine cuts, and plunge cuts in all woods.

The T101AOs, next from left, cut curves. With these, turn off the orbital action on your saw.

T101Ds are pretty similar to the T101Bs, but with fewer teeth per inch for a coarser cut.

The right side starts with a pair of T119BOs, which make curved cuts in soft wood, OSB, or plywood.

The T144DP and the T244D make quick cuts in all woods; the first cuts straight and the skinnier one does curves.

And the T234X blade is a Progressor, which means the big teeth at the tip cut coarsely. The teeth get  "progressively" finer as they get closer to the saw, so you can cut thinner materials more cleanly.

So there. Now, perhaps, you'll be less puzzled by jigsaws.
