Will this flashlight fry my eyeballs?

Millioncandlespotlight

You're looking at the Million Candle Spotlight, which is thankfully in the off position, otherwise I fear you might never look at anything ever again.

A million candles? How does that compare to, say, a lighthouse? Or the sun?

Turns out a million isn't even all that much--there are multi-million candle torches out there, and apparently a 4-million candle spotlight illuminated up the Statue of Liberty way back in 1892.

The manufacturer, Great Neck Tools, assures me the product's safe, but I still have doubts. This $36 light runs continuously for 30 minutes, yet takes 12 hours to recharge.

That ratio seems to me like more than enough time to work up a big, blinding ball of flame. Great to disorient would-be burglars, sure, but for my projects I think I'll play it safe and stick with the headlamp
