Pet Furminator brushes bales of hair

January 11, 2008

Furminator

The Furminator de-shedding tool claims to take off up to 90 percent of your pets' loose fur—and from the looks of the doghair tumbleweeds in the company's photo, the tool works alarmingly well.

The "lab-rador tested" tool is not exactly a brush; rather, the teeth dig in to clear out the matted undercoat while leaving the shiny topcoat intact. The undercoat, apparently, contains as much hair as an entire pack of dogs.

I couldn't help but imagine some hapless photo assistant sent down to the local Mutt Cuts, dragging a bag full of fur back to the studio to get this shot. The company insists, though, that these shots show actual results.

My cat loves it, but that's not saying much—she'd love getting brushed even by one of these.

We have one of these for our Husky. It works great. He even likes getting brushed now and we have to do it less often than with any other method.

I would recommend it for dogs with undercoats.

Just got the Furminator a few weeks ago and it's just like their website shows. Much easier and faster than any other pet brush, and the piles of fur on our black lab really do pile up like the photo above. Of course, using this brush weekly means we get far less fur at each brushing now, and our house is visibly cleaner. Only downside is the extreme price of $34 for the smallest size brush at Petsmart, or $19 at Amazon.com.
