LIVE FROM IBS: Clean your windows, inside and out

February 13, 2008

This just in from Harry Sawyers at the 2008 International Builders' Show in Orlando, Florida:

Casement windows swing outward with all the elegance of Evita Peron, but how are you supposed to get the outside of those things clean? Well, don't cry for me, Marvin Windows. Watch to see how this new casement, debuted at the 2008 International Builders' Show, solves the problem.

This looks like a fantastic idea, as long as the mechanisims hold up to frequent movements!

Great video, I can see and hear everything, and I LOVE the idea for this window! I want to know more! Where can I get them?!

Very innovative TOH! Window casement great idea. Video on IBS great as well. Suggestion: do a quick review what is taped as some sound is not heard and some video isn't the best either. I know that this is just "quick and dirty" but a couple of seconds of review might be helpful.

I have casements which I love but are hard to clean. This eliminates the ladders. Good idea on all of the videos.Shows what we can look forward to. Use to attend the Hardware shows when they were in New York. Miss it.

The headline is misleading. This won't clean my windows but it'll clean new windows if I buy them. It's great if you're in the market for new casement windows. I need something to make it easier to clean the double hung windows I already have. (They don't have tilt in sashes.)

I am looking for a VERY easy way to clean outside windows that are impossible for me to reach and very hard for anyone to reach to clean manually. I have one of those over my entrance door. It cannot be opened, & cannot be reached by a conventional ladder either inside or out.

The rest are all metal frames which all open only the bottom areas for all the rest of the windows and only slide up and down, and are set into a Cement block opening. The screens are on the outside bottom part of the window, but are secured from the inside with a pull loop. Easy to remove the screens but I have a 2 story townhouse.

Any spray products that I could use a garden hose with, might be an option for the large window over the door on the outside, but it is still unreachable from inside with conventional ladders.

I am in a condo association that restricts what changes can or cannot be made to ones unit.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you,

Freda Benjamin

I was hoping, by the headline, this was something to clean the outside of my second story windows. I have a 1878, Victorian w/original windows. I want to keep the windows, but I would like to keep them clean.
