Senco DuraSpin rocks the house

Sencoduraspin

Until very recently, I've taken the pea-shooter approach to screwing in drywall.

Pull a screw out of my pouch, load it onto the tip of my screw gun, drive the screw into the drywall.

It's kind of like having to load a nail gun one nail at a time. Add in the extension cord I had to drag around, and the whole approach doesn't work all that well.

Today's self-feeding cordless screw guns, like this 18-volt Senco DuraSpin, make a heck of a lot more sense—especially for those of you sticking with tried-and-true methods because that's just "the way you got it done."

With this gun, you load a strip of screws into the gun, press and go.

I will say that the gun is a bit heavier than my old screw gun, and I find myself using two hands to drive the screws sometimes.

But, not having to hold and load screws while wrestling with a cord while hanging drywall is worth the few extra pounds the gun weighs.

The guns can jam, and the screw strips are a bit more expensive than a box of drywall screws.

But if you've got a couple of rooms to rock this is a convenient sidearm to have in your holster.

This is another one of those tools I wish I owned (all of which I've tested, by the way).

I also wish I owned this 18-volt Makita cordless impact driver.

And this Festool C12 drill/driver.

And while we're talking Sheetrock, here's how to finish drywall with two kinds of tape.

Thebattery is too quick to use up the charge, and then the screw does not complete it's journey to the land of "THERE THAT IS IN". TRIED IT IN DURROCK, SHEETROCK AND 3/4 FLOORING. mAY WORK GOOD FOR A SHORT PROJECT OF 15 MINUTES.
