Live from the Hardware Show: More uses for recip saws
From the first, reciprocating saws have been great for two things—and pretty much only two things— cutting wood and cutting metal. But with the new accessories from Recipro Tools, a recip saw instantly becomes much more versatile. An adapter invented by Scott Paulsen attaches to any reciprocating saw just like any blade. Its other end has a spring-loaded chuck that accepts Recipros hex-shanked accessories. You just pull back the chuck and pop them in.
At this time, these accessory lineup features files, rasps, and wire brushes. So depending on the attachment, your saw could be a blade sharpener, a hole enlarger, a wood shaper, a paint and rust remover, or a fast way to clean grunge off your grill. And because they are hex-shanked, you can rotate them to make whatever job you're doing easier. More hex-shank attachments are in the works, including sanding and scrubbing pads that will be great for sanding floors or removing the scum line on a swimming pool. The adapter sells for $15; each accessory is $6.

Makes a LOT of sense - this is the kind of 'by builder for builder' tool I love to stumble across... better-utilize a tool every carpenter has in his truck - brilliant. Howcum I never think of this stuff ?
