Not your ordinary green detergent

It’s in your dish detergent, polluting waterways to the tune of
millions of gallons a year. Maybe you should switch to a phosphate free soap
and spare all those fish.
Eco-friendly soaps and detergents have been creeping their way into our homes, but a major brand hasn't eliminated phosphates from its ingredient list—until now, that is. Palmolive's Eco+ gel detergent does just that.
According to a U.S. Geological Survey, high amounts of phosphate, a common ingredient in many dishwasher detergents, can lead to harmful algae growth that disrupts lakes and streams. What’s more, the average American goes through roughly 150 gallons of water per day, a good chunk of that from dishwashers. Do the math and that's a lot of algae.
Palmolive's Eco+ gel detergent is available nationwide for $3 to $6 in three nature-inspired fragrances. I guess “going green” doesn’t necessarily mean going out of your way. —Aynsley Karps

Here in Spokane, Wa, they just passed a ban on dish detergents with Phosphates (too much algae in the river). This Palmolive stuff is the only thing on the shelves, besides Planet and Ecover.
Hi Aynsley,
I just published a review of Palmolive eco+ gel on my green products website that covers some of the brouhaha around phosphates and chlorine.
Here's the link if you're interested - http://1greenproduct.com/2008/07/kitchen-palmolive-eco-gel-dishwasher.html
Hope you and your readers find it useful!

We've heard many similar negative reactions over the past several years with phosphates! There is a product without any "detergents or chemicals" whatsoever in it and it does the most super job at breaking down, dislodging and digesting food deposits from dishes and pots & pans... it's SporiCLEAN. It's 100% Plant-based multi-enzymes with an organic coconut oil surfactant... it's been called the (Vegan GREEN Cleaner). It's completely and totally safe to people, pets, plants and... our waterways! Safe in drains (actually it's very beneficial at breaking down drain wall deposits)... it's equally safe in septic tanks and leach-beds... as it continues to break down bio-solids.
Doing dishes, laundry, cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, carpets, fabrics and all washable surfaces inside and out... it simply works! We were just written in GREEN HOME here at the Amazing green enzyme cleaner link.
Give me a call or give SporiCLEAN a try. It's incredibly cost-effective in its concentrated form and will allow you to eliminate 90% of all your cleaners and all chemical disinfectants.
