Stop a tarheel teardown
Here's your last chance to secure a home in one of Chapel Hill, NC's most affluent historic district for less than a million dollars.
Located adjacent to the quintessential college campus of UNC-Chapel Hill, in the Franklin-Rosemary Historic District, the Edward Kidder Graham House absolutely, positively must sell before late August, or face demolition by the town of Chapel Hill, which has condemned it.
The wood-shingled, 3,200-square-foot Colonial Revival was built in 1908 by Graham, who served at president of UNC from 1914 until his death during an influenza pandemic in 1918. Over the years, it's served as home to many other notable North Carolinians, including Frank Porter Graham, a UNC president, and US Senator.
The house is for sale for $900,000, and will require a complete restoration, though it does qualify for 30-percent tax credits from the State of North Carolina. To learn more, email Cathleen Turner at cturner@presnc.org.
