Live from the International Builders’ Show: Schlage Introduces Wireless Access System for the Home
The Schlage LiNK system is a new line of wireless-controlled locksets for the home. It gives you total control over access to your home or garage with remote online management from a PC or cell phone with Internet capabilities. The deadbolts also feature a push button keypad so you don’t have to worry about carrying a key.
The system works by connecting LiNK-enabled locksets to the Internet via a wireless bridge. Using a technology called Z-Wave, the system also allows you to control up to 200 home automation devices such as lights, thermostats, and cameras. You can remotely check when the kids came home or the repairman showed up, unlock your house for a neighbor or receive a text or e-mail message when specific user codes are entered.
The system is completely encrypted and the locks feature Schlage’s legendary security.
Prices start about $299.
