First FSC-certified wood pellets
June 22, 2009
For those of you interested in eco-friendly fuel alternatives, here's a bit of news: the Forest Stewardship Council has given it's first official certification to a company that makes wood pellets.
New York-based Curran Renewable Energy, LLC makes their pellets by compressing pulverized biomass, a.k.a. wood fiber from FSC-certified forests, into efficient nuggets of energy. Pellets are already cleaner-burning than traditional wood logs due to their compressed composition, so the FSC certification just ups their environmentally friendly rep.
Now, I know there are fireplaces and wood stoves out there that run on wood pellets, but I'm wondering if there are any fire pits made to handle them, too. Anyone seen any?

this is a joke, right? 'cause anyone that burns pellets knows that non-fsc pellets rule...
Pellet stoves generally cost very low and the Installation costs are relatively low,
