Flush and save
Are you looking for an easy and inexpensive way to help save the planet? Yeah, me too. So when I received information on Brondell's soon-to-be-released retrofit toilet product I immediately called in a sample to try out. Though it's not on the market until August, here's a sneak peek of what is sure to have all of your heads spinning with excitement. I bring you the Perfect Flush.
Designed to install into any run-of-the-mill commode in a relatively quick clip—about 30 minutes—this compact, dual-flush device projects a 30-50% instand water savings, and about $100 per year off your water bill. And since it will retail for only $99, that's a pretty good deal when considering the money you're saving by not purchasing a new "green" toilet—which could run you anywhere from $150 to $900—or calling Joe the plumber.
Though I haven't had the chance to test-drive the Perfect Flush, I'll keep you posted on my experience when I do. Here's to saving the world, one half or full flush at a time.

I have just installed a lower cost product: MJSI HYR270 HydroRight Drop-in Dual Flush Converter
So far they have been working fine.
On Sat, Mar 20, 2010 Richard T. installed a 2-part dual action flush valve in an old toilet. He said the price was about $50 for the 2 pieces. Who is the manufacturer of this product? Thanks
To Paula and Ron West, I recorded the show you asked about and actually purchased one of the dual flush devices that Rich T. installed. It is called a Flush Smart dual flush retrokit. Unfortunately, the one that I found isn't quite as easy to install as the model that Rich had. His flush valve simply slid down the fill tube and sat in the water outlet normally covered by the flapper. The one I got requires you to remove the tank and screw the flush valve to the bottom of the tank from below using a new gasket. I got it the other day and still haven't had time to install it yet.
I just checked the link that howy61 posted and it looks like the same one that Rich T. installed. Mine is slightly different.

I actually installed a new flush valve, hydroclean and hydroright on the main bathroom on 1st floor. COOL. My test was that my 5 yr old could push the buttons.
Just watching how it works, it has to save water=money.
Follow up on MJSI HYR270 HydroRight Drop-in Dual Flush Converter:
Fine tuning the flush takes some time, but the only real issue is that the old toggle handle, cleared the seat top when it is up. The converter buttons are partially hidden behind the set tops.
So I will say it, save water and domestic tranquility, put the seat and top down guys.
Very interesting article about toilet bidets. After reading this post, I just realized that using this kind of device can save me money.
