Low-energy LED lights

June 26, 2009

LEDkitchen Like many of you out there, I've been pinching my pennies lately. So when I read the line "A penny per day energy cost is now a practical reality," you know my head did a double-take. The claim comes from lighting company Datexx, which has just launched their Sentina line of LED lights.

Like larger, more powerful night lights, they plug straight into your outlets to deliver their energy-saving brightness. My favorite is the Sentina LED-92M, which has motion, darkness and power outage sensors (it should work for up to 8 more hours if a blackout hits). Take it from the socket, and it can also be used as an emergency flash light. That's quite a lot of conveniance for a $30 light, and it's not the prettiest thing in the world, I could see them placed along my hallways.

LED bedroom Other lights in the new line include Shoji-papered ZenLight that should offer a calming glow, a U-Timer that you can program to go on at dusk, and an Outback Safety Lamp that has a built-in crank generator. Each light is $45 or under.
