Mail-order toilet
I arrived home one afternoon recently and found a toilet sitting on my front lawn. To be more specific, it was a cardboard box containing a new one-piece Toto toilet.
You see, I had ordered the Japanese-made toilet from Faucet Direct, an online mail-order company located in California. And then there it was, just three days later, sitting in my Connecticut yard.
Welcome to the world (wide web) of internet shopping.
I realize there's nothing really new about online purchases, internet shopping has been around for nearly 20 years, but I'm still amazed at the incredible variety of products that are just a keystroke away from my front door (or lawn).
I reason I ended up ordering the toilet online in the first place was that my local Toto dealer didn't have the model I wanted and it would've taken two weeks to special order it.
By shopping online I was able to compare dozens of Toto toilets without driving all over the state, I didn't have to pick it up myself, and on top of all that, I saved nearly $100 over the dealer price.
Now with every real-time transaction I complete, I wonder if there's a guy in California waiting for a product to be delivered from some Connecticut online company. Hey, you never know, and in this new, ever-shrinking world, does it even matter?

Did you remember to pay the sales tax???????
Is Connecticut going to hunt you down and require an investigation of sales taxes not pay during the last 7 (or 11) years.
This is a very nice picture.
