A clutter-free desk: It's possible
Small space living is all about being neat and organized. The less stuff you have strewn about, the larger your house, apartment or room will look and feel. And while I'm pretty good at keeping my home tidy—I can't leave the house in the morning unless my bed is made, I can't go to sleep at night until all of the day's dishes are put away, and never rarely do I ever leave clothes laying around—there is one space in my place that always seems to be cluttered, no matter how often I clean it up.
Yep. My desk is a disaster zone. I'm not proud of it. And if I trip over one of my many computer cords one more time...
So when a colleague of mine introduced me to Bluelounge's new StudioDesk I got all excited because finally, just maybe, this might be the answer to my (or your) mismanaged mess of a desk and cord control issue. This laminate and mahogany item boasts a hidden compartment for excess cables, routers, power strips, external hard drives, pens, paper, etc. that is revealed and concealed by a 20-inch wide sliding section of the desk's top. Oh, and the wires for your electrical devices simply thread through the slot that runs across the width of the desktop. How smart! And though this desk is specifically designed for laptop users, it's really a genius piece for anyone in need of a workspace that offers some storage. Now here's the thing, it's about $600 (which isn't that cheap, but it's also not terribly expensive).
One thing's for sure, the cost of buying this desk is certainly less than what a visit to the ER would run me if my octopus of cords gets the best of me. And I'm accident-prone.

Actually for the ones who, like me, don´t really want to buy right now a completely new desk there´s also a cheap solution: "Cableyoyo", also made by Bluelong. It´s a simple, clever and very stylish spool to wrap your cords..and can temporarily prevent you from falling : )
