Inspect your home's heating oil tank
The chill in the air is getting crisper and I know the clanging of radiators reawakening is not too far behind. So it's important for you cold-weather homeowners to check over your home's heating oil tank before refilling, as Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection recently remind me. Read on for some of their suggestions.
First, check the oil tank and it's supports for signs of rusts and the fill and feed lines for leaks, which could include wet spots and odors. If you're not going to be home when the company comes over to refill your tank, make sure to obviously flag the fill line - seriously, a big red flag would do it. Seal any lines that have been disconnected so that a mistake doesn't happen. You wouldn't want this kind of nightmare to happen to you.
